While the general purpose of our club is to learn about various facets of philosophy, intellectual movements & forms of thinking through unique games, intellectually stimulating discussions, fun movie clips, slam poetry, and much more—it’s even more so about being free thinkers, unapologetically discussing what goes undiscussed and reveling in the beauty and joy of life, which can become difficult—but is so immensely important—in high-stress environments like Cupertino High School. We revel in curiosity and passion, for the principle of philosophy is to ask questions without allowing society to silence us through conformity and fear; to be themselves and question things rather than blindly complying and following the herd. At Tino Philosophy we nurture thought, curiosity, critical thinking, passion, and a relentless love for life. While many other clubs, like the various STEM or Med clubs, may help with college, ours helps with life—our club isn’t for just one major or type of person; it encourages thought in all kinds of people and provides real-world skills as well as academic skills, and allows each of our members to be able to make a real impact on society while simultaneously building community and nurturing connectedness amongst members—who are tentatively around 50 based on our interest form’s results.
